‘/.I have grown the Phantom many times, so I know it well, as is often the case given my 20 years of experience as a grower. This batch of Phantom from Big Flower Grow Company is very light, limey green. The nugs are dense but spongey, though I did test the stems and they cracked nicely, which demonstrates that the nugs were well dried and properly cured. Big Flower also includes a nice “Boost Humidity Regulator Pack” with each 8th jar.
As for the smell and taste, the aroma is not particularly strong, though as with most buds, if you crack it open a little, the flavor comes through more potently. It does have that classic Phantom OG smell, which to me, is a sort of cherry vanilla tinted classic OG smell.
(Classic OG smell, as many of you know, is a very spicy, brittle, piney scent that shows its stuff as the daughter of Chemdawg and the Mama of Sour Diesel.)
The taste is mild and pleasant, again, a softer sense of the classic OG with the hints of Cherry and Grape from the Phantom lineage (Phantom = Cherry Pie X Grand Daddy Purple.) Taste can be extremely subjective with cannabis, as a plethora of factors ranging from what you most recently ate through how hydrated you are at the time can impact your experience.
As for the effect, which, not to be a broken record, is also very subjective, I found this to be extremely potent but not in an overwhelming fashion. (I tried it via a bong, as my first toke of the day in mid afternoon and on a largely empty stomach.)
The high is a perfect blend of head and body. It did not come on directly but lifted up in the vein of an epic dubstep song that starts out soft but ends up pulsing in your heart.
About 15 minutes in, it hit a very nice plateau, a place I very much enjoyed visiting as it added a sparkle to my vision, a peaceful hum to my body and a sharp yet fluid state of mind (*as evidenced by this very verbose report.)
An hour later I was still humming along strong with no crash in sight and no need to even finish what I had packed in the bong.
I personally vouch for the high quality of this cannabis.
